Junior lifesavers shine at 2025 State Titles

On Saturday, 14 June 2025, 70 enthusiastic Junior Lifeguard Club participants came together at Aqualife Victoria Park for the annual JLC State Titles!

The competition kicked off with Swimming with Obstacles, where swimmers dove under submerged barriers and raced freestyle to complete the course. The Manikin Carry also tested participants’ strength and swimming as they retrieved and carried a floating manikin back to the pool edge using effective rescue skills.

The partner challenges included the Rescue Tube Tow, which paired younger swimmers to practice towing a partner to safety using a lifeguard’s rescue tube, and the Line Throw Relay, where groups worked together to throw ropes and rescue teammates as quickly as possible.

Congratulations to everyone who took part and did their best, with special recognition to those who achieved top honours in their events.

A sincere thank you to the parents, families whose support made the day possible. We also extend our gratitude to the clubs and coaches who brought their teams, including Aqualife Victoria Park, Stirling Leisure Centre, Swan Active Midland, Swan Active Ballajura, Wanneroo Aquamotion, Waterponyz Merriwa, Waterponyz Wanneroo and Waterponyz Wangara, as well as Yanchep, Trigg, and Scarborough SLS Clubs.

The strong turnout highlights the growing interest in pool lifesaving and the value of the Junior Lifeguard Club program as a pathway to aquatic safety and sport.
