$10,000 raffle win makes family holiday a reality
For Royal Life Saving WA supporter Darren, a long-planned family holiday just got a little easier after he became the lucky winner of $10,000 in our August raffle draw.
Darren and his wife Vicky visited the Royal Life Saving WA office in Mt Claremont to meet the team and celebrate the win.
A Royalty VIP Club supporter since October 2023, Darren receives entries into our exclusive monthly prize draws through his regular raffle ticket purchases. While the chance to win is a great bonus, Darren says his reason for supporting Royal Life Saving WA is simple - he believes it is important to support organisations making a difference in the community.
Water safety is also something that has always been important to Darren and his family.
Both Darren and Vicky learnt to swim growing up and, when they had their own children, made a conscious decision to ensure their two sons completed swimming lessons. For them, it was about developing the skills to enjoy the water while also knowing how to stay safe.
Swimming is such an important part of Australian life, and Darren believes having the skills and confidence to participate safely around water is something every child should have the opportunity to experience.
Now, the family is looking forward to making some new memories together – this time a little further from the water at home.
Darren and Vicky have good friends living in Thailand and have been hoping to take an extended family holiday to visit them with their two sons. The unexpected $10,000 win will now help make that trip a reality. With the years for holidays as a whole family never feeling quite long enough, Darren and Vicky are excited to use the prize towards an experience they can all share.
For Head of Philanthropy Laura Kazmirowicz, meeting Darren and Vicky was also a chance to celebrate one of the more enjoyable parts of the raffle program.
“One of the best parts of my job is calling our winners, but one of the hardest parts is convincing them they have really won!” Laura said.
Royalty VIP Club supporters purchase raffle tickets each month, providing regular fundraising income that helps Royal Life Saving WA deliver vital water safety education and drowning prevention programs across Western Australia, including the Swim and Survive Fund.
VIP supporters are also automatically entered into exclusive monthly prize draws for the chance to win $10,000.
