History
The Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) was founded in England in 1891 to combat a high drowning toll. The first Australian Branch was formed in New South Wales in 1894 and the movement soon spread to all States.
Strategic Framework
Over the past century our vision has remained the same. We have always sought to reduce drowning, increase physical activity, especially in and around the water, and contribute to the creation of more resilient communities, Australia wide.
Reconciliation Action Plan
We extend our respect to all Elders and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples across Australia and recognise their continued connection to land, waters and communities.
Governance
The Royal Life Saving Society Western Australia is an incorporated association. The governance of Royal Life Saving is vested in a Board of Directors. Director positions are voluntary.
Patrons
Royal Life Saving WA is privileged to have the support of esteemed patrons and vice-patrons—prominent Western Australians who proudly advocate for our mission and help promote our lifesaving work across the state.
