School Pools
School swimming pool safety relies on the shared responsibility of owners, operators, and users, and Royal Life Saving WA’s Aquatic Safety Assessments help schools evaluate their operations against industry best practices to improve safety standards and ensure all users follow agreed rules and conditions.

The responsibility for pool safety at a school swimming pool rests with the pool owners and operators, along with each and every facility user. Only when everyone is aware of, and following, the agreed rules and conditions of use can these facilities operate in a safe manner.

Royal Life Saving WA's Aquatic Safety Assessments have been designed to assist Schools in obtaining a better understanding of their current level of operation, enabling them to develop and offer improved standards and levels of safety.

These assessments are designed to assess an individual facility against industry best practice recommendations as detailed in the Guidelines for Safe Pool Operations (GSPO) and the Department of Health Code of Practice.

Assessments typically include:

  • Onsite assessment and observational study
  • Benchmarking against relevant regulations and safety standards
  • Safety Improvement Plan
  • Observation & Recommendations
