Leinster Community School learns how to be water safe

20 July 2023

Recently, local communities have been showing a keen interest in learning more about water safety through different Royal Life Saving WA programs.

Clint Kelleher delivering a water safety talk at Leinster Community SchoolOn the 24th of June, 101 students from Leinster Community School participated in a series of water safety talks facilitated by our Goldfields Talent Pool team.

As children are exposed to a range of aquatic environments it's extremely important that they are equipped with the skills, knowledge and right attitude to be safe in, on and around the water.

These water safety talks run through various scenarios which feature a range of different characteristics and hazardous conditions children may experience in the real world.

Surprised by such a welcome reception, Clint said both teachers and parents were grateful and appreciative of the commitment to providing programs like this to regional communities now and in the future.

It was a great turnout with everyone remaining attentive and asking many questions throughout each 30-minute session.

Not to mention the kids being mesmerised by the PowerPoint and its transitions!

The talks were delivered as part of Royal Life Saving WA and BHP's program for regional development.

Royal Life Saving also offers free online water safety modules to complement your child’s swimming and water safety education. There is a module for each swimming stage, which can be accessed via the link below.
