Are you 15–24 and passionate about making a difference? Join Royal Life Saving WA’s Youth Water Safety Volunteer Program—where you can take action, gain real-world experience, and have a great time doing it.
We’re looking for passionate young people to help spread lifesaving messages at events and activations across WA. Our focus is on promoting safe choices around water, especially in social settings where alcohol might be involved. From music festivals and leavers events to youth expos and community days, there are heaps of ways you can get involved.
Whether you’re interested in health, event planning, youth leadership, or just giving back, this is an awesome opportunity to learn, grow, and be part of something meaningful.
You don’t need to be a water safety expert—we’ll hook you up with training, mentoring, and all the gear you need to succeed. You’ll join a fun, welcoming team that supports each other and celebrates your contribution. Whether you're available for a single event or keen to stay involved long-term, every hour you give helps make a difference in keeping young people safe around water.
Ready to get involved? Your voice, your energy, and your time could help save lives—and you’ll have a blast along the way.

"Being part of the Be a Mermate events with Royal Life Saving WA has been a truly meaningful experience. Volunteering in these sessions has given me the opportunity to connect with students and contribute to important conversations around water safety in a practical and engaging way. Seeing how simple education can help young people become more aware and confident around water makes the experience incredibly rewarding.
As someone interested in public health, being involved with an organisation like Royal Life Saving WA that focuses on prevention and community education has strengthened my passion for health promotion. Knowing that these small interactions can contribute to safer communities makes the experience even more fulfilling."
