QUALIFICATIONS
Swim Teachers
Swim teachers must hold a current Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety qualification.
The currency of this qualification must always be maintained by completing the required registration components before the expiry date. This includes a current CPR as per Australian Resuscitation Council guidelines, teaching practise and regular professional development to ensure knowledge and skills are kept up to date.
Swim teachers working with specialist groups (such as infants, pre-schoolers or people with a disability) should hold additional qualifications pertaining to the group they are working with.
A Working with Children Check or equivalent as required by State or Territory legislation must be completed and recorded.
Professional development opportunities are provided by your Royal Life Saving State or Territory office.
