Nomads Golf Club Perth fundraiser supports WA children to Swim and Survive
Royal Life Saving WA is proud to have been selected as the charity beneficiary of the Nomads Golf Club Perth 2025 Annual Charity Golf Day, with funds raised helping more Western Australian children access essential swimming and water safety education.
The event brought together club members, supporters and sponsors to Secret Harbour Golf Links for a full day of competition and community spirit. Together, they raised an amazing $18,394 for the Swim and Survive Fund through charitable donations as well as proceeds from raffles and auction items on the day.
Nomads Golf Club is a global organisation, with branches established around the world. The Annual Charity Golf Day supports the group’s long tradition of giving back to the community, one that 2026 Captain Jono du Plessis is proud to continue.
“Each year Perth Nomads selects a charity close to the Captain’s heart,” shared Jono. “Now Captain for 2026, I chose Royal Life Saving WA.”
“In a region surrounded by beaches, rivers and waterways, this work ensures Western Australians can safely enjoy the lifestyle we are so fortunate to have. Perth Nomads proudly supports Royal Life Saving WA so they can continue training, educating and protecting our community.”
Funds raised through the charity golf day will support the Royal Life Saving WA Swim and Survive Fund, which helps deliver vital swimming and water safety lessons to children who may otherwise miss out due to financial, cultural or geographical barriers.
Many at-risk groups - including children from lower socio-economic backgrounds, multicultural and Aboriginal communities, those living with disabilities, and families in regional or remote areas - face significant challenges in accessing swimming and water safety education. The Swim and Survive Fund works to close these gaps by providing tailored programs and strengthening partnerships with community organisations and aquatic facilities.
Royal Life Saving WA Head of Philanthropy Laura Kazmirowicz attended the club’s presentation dinner and thanked Nomads Golf Club Perth, along with its sponsors, members and supporters, for making the fundraiser possible. She also acknowledged the contribution of Jaylene Palmer from Royal Life Saving WA’s Quackers volunteer team, who manages a fundraising merchandise box at Auto Masters Osborne Park, where Jono is the franchisee.
“Events like this make a real difference for children who are at higher risk of drowning simply because they haven’t had the opportunity to learn how to stay safe around water,” commented Laura.
“The generosity of the Nomads Golf Club Perth community will help us deliver Swim and Survive programs where they are needed most — ensuring every child, no matter their background or postcode, has the chance to learn essential skills that could one day save their life.”
At Royal Life Saving WA, community safety sits at the core of our work. Each year, the Swim and Survive Fund helps more children across Western Australia gain confidence and competence in the water, reducing drowning risks and empowering them to enjoy aquatic environments safely.
Royal Life Saving WA is proud to partner with community-minded groups like Nomads Golf Club Perth, whose commitment to giving back aligns closely with our values of care, courage, community and collaboration. Together, we're helping ensure every child has the opportunity to Swim and Survive.
